Seller's description

Gorgeous patina on this vintage tooled leather purse! Very firm and structured leather with whipstitch trim and long shoulder strap. Could possibly be used as a crossbody bag. The tooled design consists of leaves and what appears to be red chili peppers. Suede like interior and turn lock closure. Please see pics for condition of bag; some flaws in the leather but hard to see. Measurements: 11 inches across, 10 inches tall, and 3 inches deep.

Evidence

POSITIVE
  • photo 1: clearly a structured leather handbag with a flap, shoulder strap, turnlock-style closure, and suede-like interior.
  • photo 1: substantial leather construction and brass-tone closure are compatible with some vintage handbags, though not specifically diagnostic of Coach.
  • photo 1-4: leather flap shoulder bag with turnlock closure, general vintage leather-bag population where misidentified Coach hides
  • photo 5: unlined suede-back interior consistent with unlined construction, but not specific to Coach
NEGATIVE
  • photo 1: extensive floral/chili-pepper tooling and braided whipstitch trim are not characteristic of the classic Coach catalog models in the reference set.
  • photo 2: closure is a small rectangular plated fitting rather than the distinctive vintage Coach oval or rounded-rectangle turnlock geometry.
  • photo 5: interior view shows suede-like lining but no visible Coach creed, wordmark, country line, or serial.
  • photo 1: no Coach horse-and-carriage mark or leather Coach hangtag is visible.
  • photo 3: broad whipstitched side construction and the tooled decorative panels suggest an artisan or generic Western/Mexican-style leather bag rather than Coach.
  • photo 1,2,4: all-over hand-tooled and hand-painted leaves and red chili peppers - Coach classics are plain glove-tanned, never pictorial tooled
  • photo 1,2,4: whipstitch / laced edge trim around flap and body - not Coach classic construction
  • photo 1,2: square blocky bright gold-tone turnlock, not thin oval solid-brass Coach turnlock with rounded keeper
  • photo 5: no creed patch visible on suede interior in only interior view
  • photo 1-4: no COACH wordmark, horse-and-carriage, or leather hangtag visible
MISSING INFORMATION
  • photo 5: interior should be photographed fully emptied, including all walls, pockets, and seams, to confirm whether any label or creed is hidden.
  • photo 2: close-up of the turnlock front and back, including any engraving.
  • photo 4: full strap, attachment points, buckle holes, and underside are not shown in detail.
  • photo 3: close-up of stitching, edge construction, and all four bottom corners would help identify the maker and condition.
  • seller-stated dimensions are available, but no maker, country, or provenance information is provided.
  • photo of interior back wall / slip pocket straight-on for creed patch - photo 5 shows only suede and turnlock back plate
  • close-up of turnlock front and back plate and strap hardware tone
  • close-up of any maker stamp, hangtag, or interior label
  • bottom and corner close-ups to grade wear
AUTHENTICITY CONCERNS
  • ⚠ photo 5: no Coach identifier is visible; the bag should be treated as an unbranded leather handbag rather than a Coach candidate.
  • ⚠ photo 1: decorative tooling, whipstitching, and closure design do not form a recognizable Coach model match.
  • ⚠ photo 2: the visible closure is generic-looking and does not show the expected geometry of a vintage Coach turnlock.
  • ⚠ photo 1-2: hand-tooled chili-pepper pictorial decoration has no counterpart in Coach catalog 1960s-2000s
  • ⚠ photo 1-2: blocky square gold-tone turnlock inconsistent with Coach vintage solid-brass oval turnlock geometry
